Happy Shavuot
Tonight is the beginning of the Jewish celebration of Shavuot or Pentecost, when the Jewish people received the Torah at Mount Sinai.
Traditions include eating dairy products, especially cheesecake (Ashkenazi) and the Sephardic have a caked called siete cielos (seven heavens). We also stay up all night to read through the Torah (a Sephardic tradition which we all adopted) in addition to reading the book of Ruth.
